Product Details
Catenary Lighting Set Free.
LED Puck Air is a revolution in catenary lighting. Discreet, robust, and with an incredibly compact design, Air is the modern catenary lighting system the world has been waiting for.
Small is beautiful.
LED Puck Air is the lightest and smallest professional grade catenary luminaire ever made. At only 25mm in diameter and approximately 100 grams per luminaire, Air is only a fraction in size and weight of other catenary luminaires on the market – and in some cases up to 100 times lighter!
Streamlined simplicity is at the core of the LED Puck Air system – No extra clunky power wires and no typical catenary clutter. Also, Air's tension requirements for mounting are minimal, reducing project time and cost and removing engineering complexity.
Air is a system as elegant as the light it produces.
Engineer the Experience.
LED Puck Air is not just a light, but an all-in-one lighting suite designed to bring a personal and creative vision to life.
Air comes complete with a family of options and accessories for lighting designers and engineers – giving confidence and control to create a unique lighting experience.
Air is a testament not just to modern lighting technology – or what 'products can do' – but rather a focus on what designers and engineers are truly capable of when given choices in light.
Proven Technologies
LED Puck Air melds Planet Lighting's proven high efficiency LED technologies with our fresh thinking about what catenary lighting can achieve.
Part of this goal meant creating a clever combined low voltage power and lightweight suspension system – with no need for clunky seperate power cable. Plus, Air's instant mounting and connection feature makes repositioning luminaires stunningly simple so your light can adapt with the seasons.
True to its LED Puck lineage, Air combines the best of three worlds: efficiency, elegance and a focus on the experience of light.

FAQ
Maximum cable length depends on a few factors: the number of lights, the input voltage, whether or not there are support points midway, and the amount of sag that is considered acceptable. As an example only, assuming there are no support points (other than the two ends), a 24VDC and 20 light system, with no noticeable sag, would enable a maximum cable length of around 40m to 50m.
This depends on the cable length and voltage, and whether or not there is DALI dimming. As an example only, assuming no DALI dimming, 480W at 36V, would enable around 40 lights.
LED Puck Air does not use drivers; it uses power supplies. Standard voltage is 24VDC, but can be up to 36VDC (we are working on a higher voltage option, at least 48VDC but perhaps up to 56VDC). We like the Meanwell HLG range (up to 480W) for non-dim and 0-10V dimming as they are 7-year warranty, and we like the ELG range (up to 240W) for global DALI dimming with a 5-year warranty.
Meanwell power supplies are sold by many distributors throughout Europe and are also available through many online suppliers.
How far away the power supply can be located from the catenary – that is, the max distance between the power supply and the catenary – depends on the size of a cable used and the voltage of the power supply. As examples only, assuming you use 0.75mm2 cable and 24VDC you can be 25m, assuming 1.5mm2 cable and 24VDC then you can be 50m, assuming 1.5mm2 cable and 30VDC then you can be 100m.
The highest power 3.5mm x 3.5mm Cree chip ever made, the XHP35.2!!! We are achieving a light output of over 800 lumens for a package of only Ø25mm x 130mm. The secret to getting such a large amount of light from a small fitting without overheating the LED is that the LED is mounted on a 4mm thick Ø22mm copper MCPB using DTP (direct thermal path). The board is then pressed into the aluminium body creating the most direct thermal path from the LED to ambient air. We have managed to achieve less than 10 degrees difference between the chip temperature and the body temperature.
For the catenary cable we have worked with a cable manufacturer to develop
a custom made Ø3.2mm insulated cable with Kevlar thread woven around a 1mm2 copper multi-strand cable. The insulation enables the system to be used in both indoor and outdoor applications, and the Kevlar gives us a breaking strain of 100kg – ten times more than required for most applications. We expect the usual ordering process will be that the customer states the number of catenaries required and the approximate length of each catenary. We supply this quantity of cable + 5% (allowing for error). We had considered offering pre-made cables, and we are still open to this if a customer insists, but they must be able to estimate the lengths required accurately to +or- 25mm.
Yes, cables can be cut on site. You just need a sharp pair of side cutters or shears, or a knife.
Lead times will depend on what you need especially as we continue to build up stock of many of the parts. Please contact our Commercial Manager, Mia Iggulden.
While we will always try our best to meet demand, please consider that a request for a smaller number of sample cases would more likely be ready for delivery prior to Christmas than a request for a larger number. For example a request for 10 sample cases would be a stretch, however a request 2 or 3 cases may be more achievable! Please check with our Commercial Manager, Mia Iggulden for further information.
